OAKS DAY AS WE SAW IT..

Rocklea winners from August 23rd
Race 1. Bob Moffat trained Star Player, made it 2 on the run with a strong finish with Gary Whitaker taking the drive.
Race 2. Arthur Pride regained his form to give Dennis Whitaker and driver Steve Doherty a rewarding win.
Race 3. Scott Neaves has improved new addition Safety Torque to win the first of his stable double.
Race 4. Koala Turn made it a race to race stable double giving Scott the Drivers Premiership lead.
Race 5. Peter Mc Mullen never moved a muscle on Viking Beachgirl to lead all the way in a classy Oaks field.
Race 6. Long odds winner for Albion Park Indentity Norm Copeland on Tango With Lola was a bookies skinner.

All the big money was in the Trackside Restaurant with the 2 Funny Money Bookies shelling out almost $50,000 in winning bets, it was just as well it was only Fun Money for the the hard-fought 20 prize auction at the end of the program.

This is where the serious punters got their spoils of the day with an energetic friendly bidding war over Polo Shirts, Electrical goods, Wine and unique gifts.

Bernie and Denis did a great job controlling the anxious women who fought like a horse ready to break a record on the track.

The bookies below broke even with a smaller crowd than expected, but in with plenty of cash to do battle with them and the Tote.
Punters one - Bookies Nil.

Rocklea Bookie & Tote Derby this Saturday August 30, be there for a $500 Bet With A Bookie Competition in the Racebook. with all entries on a special form or in the racebook..

A BIT OF HANDY THEME ORIENTED PHOTOGRAPHY WITH "LADIES IN PINK" THE DEAL FOR OAKS DAY THIS SATURDAY ..AUGUST 23..

COMING UP..SATURDAY AUGUST 23.JUST BE THERE!!.

The lead up Saturday to Oaks Ladies Day on August 23 did nothing nothing to enhance the chances of a number of 3yo fillies eligible for the $5000 Rocklea Oaks feature next Saturday's Ladies InPaink will be entertaine i nthe Trackside Restaurant by Funny Money Bookmakers, giveways, free raffles and plenty of fun with great meals. Book with Trevor Perrin before Thursday on 0404 049 411, as the restaurant has about 100 people booked in. Derby Day on August 30 is also open for bookings on the same number with some interesting beer prizes to be won by the men.

Logical favourites for the Oaks are the John McMullen trained Viking Beachgirl after her brilliant trial at Rocklea a week ago, and the Mark McNee Redcliffe trained Sweet Misty, who ran a creditatable second to the daughter of Jennas Beach Boy and then backed up last Staurday to her trial at Rocklea in good style.

Miss Falcon by Ultimate Falcon from Miss Elrae 1:58.7 ( Caprock mare that died after having 2 foals) is a great hope for Ipswich local lads Tom and Chris McGuire and is worth an each-way ticket on her.

Last Saturday the winners were:
Race1. Two Macs - A top all the way win and a real chance in the Oaks, if they choose to run her,for the Gordon / Weidemann Stable at Haigslea.
Race 2.Desive Torgue gave Thagoona trainer / driver Simon Burrows a comdortable win and has more to give for punters.
Race 3. Star Player won his second race at Rocklea for Bob Moffatt of the gold Coast with Fernvale's Garry Whitaker in seat.
Race 4. House Master proved too strong and too tough giving Ricky Gordon and Lola Weidemann a well-deserved double for the day.
Race 5. Marburg trainer Andy Schulz celebrated with Gary Vernon after an outstanding win by Trump Casino gelding The Dopey Prince.

Bookmakers and on-course tote reported the local horses were backed in with strong stable money, some wide of the mark, others like the last winner, were backed and won accordingly.

Don't forget Free Entry - Free Parking - Bookies Who Bet Best Odds.

A STUDY IN CONCENTRATION..
