ANOTHER PIECE OF TRIVIA..

All you Kids will have seen a lugging pole on the full size horses.They are worn to keep the horses head and neck in line with his spine,thus allowing the driver to keep the horse straight.Also,by keeping these very important parts in a straight line while working hard,the pole may assist in preventing soreness.
Poles were not allowed in this country in the early years,making their first appearance in 1963.The first horse to officially wear a pole in races was the top-line South Australian,SMOKEY ERIC."SMOKEY" won high class races while wearing his unfamiliar device.
What was considered strange then is commonplace now..

Every couple of days,a new snippet will appear....WATCH THIS SPACE!
Today's bit comes from Sweden,(yes,We have a man in Sweden,his name is Michael Sauer,and,you will hear a lot from him).Just think,when you are complaining about winter mornings in a few weeks,in the northern hemisphere they regularly race in temperatures as low as -25c.That's colder than mum's freezer,with snow thrown in.Different hey!
