WILLYGOBYE,trained and reined by TONY TURPIN,to a 16 metre victory at Albion Park on Tuesday,January 9,seems only half a chance to trot on his breeding...until you look.
While WILLYGOBYE's sire is the conventionally trot bred USA import,WILLY LAUXMONT,his dam,GYPSY DELMER is by ADIOS DELMER imp,a son of the PACING SUPER SIRE "ADIOS",sire of Champions and sire of sires.The dam of ADIOS DELMER was ISOLDE,a daughter of NIBBLE HANOVER,(Pacer)who figures often in the pedigree of these "left field " trotters.Usually,the more often NIBBLE HANOVER appears, the better the ultimate progeny trots.
The dam of GYPSY DELMER was NOMADIC by CANNY SCOT imp (got pacers and trotters),and her dam was CARLS GYPSY,by CARL RAIDER from MAUREEN LOUISE (and,it gets tricky here) by LOUIS DIRECT imp (Unhoppled Pacer).
CARL RAIDER obviously drew from the trotting side of his dual gaited sire's (RAIDER imp) gene pool to enhance his dam,CARLOTTA REDMOND's undiluted square gaiting blood..So,there you have it.Champion pacing stallions,one of which was unhoppled,and a dual gaited horse,(RAIDER imp 1.59 pacing...2.01 trotting) who gave untold benefit to the Australian breed,all mixed up in the dam line of an 8yo raceway trotter which rated a "not too shabby" 2.06.3 for the 2647 metres on Tuesday.
